Happy 1-1-11

It's 11:38 pm on New Years Eve and I'm barely keeping my eyelids open. I had a wonderful lonnnng walk on the beach today because it was in the high 40's here and sunny! The thing is, I haven't been doing my usual 2 mile walk for the past 2(ish) weeks because of snow and bad weather, so I was pretty tired by the time I got home today. But I feel great and got some much needed fresh air.
Now you may wonder what my new year's resolutions are but I can't say that I actually have any. Basically, my thoughts on this matter are: Every day I resolve to be the best person I can be and live my life to the fullest, so why would I stop all that and just do it on ONE day? I'm a work in progress- EVERY day. (I've got a loooooong way to go!)

Ok, I better go, there's only 14 more minutes until midnight! (then I can go to bed!!!!)

I am wishing for you a prosperous, joyful, love filled new year. 1-1-11 !!!!

End of the Year Paintings

What have I been doing since Christmas? Well for starters, I just finished this commissioned painting. (11"x14") It was fascinating to see the colors that 'showed' up with Ralph's angel. *If you are reading this, send Ralph some prayers/good energy. Thanks.
Here's another commission I finished recently. (8"x10")It has to do with the song "Footprints". She wanted words in it, so I decided to collage them in (my handwriting isn't that good).

Then I'm also in the middle of this commission, (18"x24")but I really like it just the way it is right now so I took a photo of it. This one isn't a 'healing angel' or one that I've channeled in, it's got another purpose. Below it are supposed to be a family's 4 miscarriages (as orbs of golden light) being looked after by this angel. I will in fact, 'check in' as I continue painting it to make sure it comes out just right.

Last but not least, I finally finished this one (18"x24") that I had been working on for a long time. It was actually a Christmas gift for someone special so I wanted to get it just right. The neat thing about this is you can turn it any which way and it looks good! I didn't even try to do that.

I just found this on another blog and thought I'd share:
helping others through your thoughts
You can most certainly help others through your thoughts, and they can help you. Every good thought you send to another is a living force. However, the person you are sending the thought to has to be asking for the same thing you are sending. If the person does not want it, then they are not in harmony with your thought frequency, and it will not penetrate them.
You cannot create in another's life against their will, but if it is something they want, your thoughts are a real force that helps them.

Christmas 2010

At about 9am this morning the Christmas festivities begun. The girls crawled out of their warm cozy beds, headed to the living room and then pretty much sat there in a daze for a few minutes. Now, may I remind you that my girls are teenagers and they usually sleep until late in the morning, so 9am was really early for them to be getting up. The other reason they weren't in a hurry to see what Santa brought is because they already knew what most of it was because they were there when the elves were 'making it'. Yes, we have the same tree as the last few years, but for some reason it looked like it had lost more weight this year.

Still wrapped in their blankets, they began opening the presents. A bottle of nail polish remover, a bar of soap, some shampoo, a box of Goldfish... you get the idea. Not a real exciting Christmas this year. What can I say, I'm an ARTIST.

I guess they had enough of that pretty quickly because in no time Christmas at my house was over and they were dressed and off to their dads to get the 'good' stuff. No, I'm joking. But they did leave to have breakfast over there. All in all it was a very nice day and I enjoyed being with my girls. And hey, I even got what I really wanted for Christmas- a pair of socks! :)

I forgot to mention that Kiya really enjoyed all the wrapping paper and boxes.

She planted herself in this one and we took her for a ride around the floor. She loves that!

Just a cute picture of Qena that I took the other day. How did this get in here? I don't know. I'm really tired and calling it a day. A long day. Glad it's over really. Now I can relaaaaaax.

Pre-Christmas

We had Christmas with the kids yesterday at Auntie Grethe's house. Brielle, Sienna and Qena posed for this beautiful photo.
Here's Auntie Grethe and her baby, playing with a sharp object. Luckily no one was injured during the filming of this blog. Grandmom came bearing all kinds of gifts. My nephew Quince is sooo into airplanes and jets. He can tell you the model of almost any kind of flying machine and he's only 6.

I love these two photo's of Qena and I. Her smile is just so contagious. And she's just so kissable!

Brielle has somewhat of a glazed look on her face- too many Christmas cookies, and quite possibly the excitement of receiving a 2011 calendar from Grandmom. Qena thinks so too.
(oh boy!)
But wait, Grandmom also bought her some animal print furry blankets and pillows for the dorm. Niiiiiice.
This was Sienna's favorite present.
Oh, and this is what happens when you drink too much eggnog. Actually, Sienna was just really tired so she decided to take a nap in the chair, while motioning to me to fill up her glass with water (not eggnog).
We actually got our first snow this week. It was very exciting. It's almost all melted now, but at least it felt more like Christmas. Now it's Christmas eve and I'm watching home movies with my girls just waiting Santa's arrival. It's a nice quiet evening and watching the kids when they were young is really fun for all of us.

It's a cold Sunday night and I spent the day with Brielle, doing errands, picking up work in Chatham then going to the Christmas Tree Shop. It was unusually uncrowded, but I suspect that everyone was in Hyannis (the big 'city' on Cape Cod) at the mall. We bought a few little last minute things then headed home to make chocolate chip cookies and drink some hot chai tea. The house always smells so good when cookies are in the oven! Unfortunately none of us got to eat them because they are for the mail carrier. Then we settled down to a funny movie that I rented. It's been a perfect day with my little (big) lamby. It's so nice to have her home. (In case you are wondering where my other daughter was, she has been at the mall with her boyfriend all day/night. ) I wish she was with us, but you know teenagers! I was lucky to have one wanting to hang out with her mom all day, so I'm not complaining. Life is great!

Salt Marsh, Eastham

I went for a walk the other day along the salt marsh near the Eastham Visitor center. The day was icy cold and the wind was blowing, but the view was incredible! If you look way out beyond the marsh you'll see the Atlantic Ocean.

I was actually standing on someones back lawn taking these photos. They are summer residents so no one was home (luckily!) See, that's what we locals do when you summer people aren't here. ;) Can you imagine living here waking up to this view every morning?!

And this view? Only in my wildest dreams.
This is just beyond their grass on the northeast side. There were some beautiful bright red berries nestled on the side of the hill going down to the salt water river. I'm not sure what kind they are but we used to pick them for holiday arrangements. Now I just leave them for the birds because they need them more than I do.
Well, that's it for today. I'm really busy trying to finish up commissions and holiday shopping. I can't believe Christmas is only a week away. My how time flies! Brielle has finished her finals at college and is home for about a month. (YAY!!!) So between that, and the snow flurries we had the other day it now seems a little more like the holidays. :)

Snowmen

It's snowman time again! I've started painting my annual parade of snowmen.

I especially enjoy painting them interacting with little animals like cats or squirrels.

Or Birds. Wait, this one's not so little!

Anyway...My idea of a snowman (in my own head) is a pure being surrounded by (warm and cozy) snow; a beautiful glowing being that loves nature and loves all the little animals. Ok, I usually don't tell people what I'm thinking when I paint, but I have to write about something on my blog! So, just don't tell anyone ELSE what's in my crazy little head when I paint or they might come take me away.

I didn't take this photo but it was going around the web. Apparently this deer visits the cat every morning. I just thought it was soooo cute that I had to put it on my blog.
Speaking of animals I spent a few hours today watching Planet Earth on a big screen tv (it almost felt like I was at the movies!) What a great movie, (except for all the animal eating animal parts.) I have to fast forward it through them because I just can't handle watching that. But, the photography is incredible. You should really watch it if you love nature.

Heart Shaped Sun

Can you see that the sun looks like a heart in this photo, or is it just my imagination? Well, that's what I see. I always look for hearts and angels in the sky though. It's funny because I had a customer just last week who -out of the blue- told me to look at the sky. (He had no idea that I do it all the time!) Then he sent me a photo he had taken of a cloud shaped like an angel. Neat!
Look up tomorrow (or today) and see if you can see an angel or a heart. The sky can be full of love if you just look for it.

It's been a hectic week. Lots of work to do, several commissions (I'm not complaining!) and just stuff in general. I feel so busy- not enough time to meditate. It's been pretty cold too - in the 30's so I just don't even want to go for my walks. (I'm such a wimp!) But all in all, life is good and I'm very happy.
:) yay!

Snowy Paintings

4"x6" It's a quiet Sunday morning and all is well. It's cold and over cast outside but we still haven't had any snow. I'm hoping for at least a little bit of that white stuff before Christmas this year. (Better yet, ON Christmas!) There's just something about a blanket of new fallen snow that calms the world, at least for a moment.

Angel

5"x7" http://stores.ebay.com/Cape-Cod-Artist

I did several angels yesterday, this being one of them, and I was so thrilled when they were finished. (Of course, I always am). I love it when the rain is falling outside but I'm safe and warm in my cozy studio, and I have just the right music on then paint starts to flow. I'm totally transported to a place of peace and serenity. Not too many people can say that about their job. I'm so lucky!

I feel the need to spread the word about this: Follow this link if you want to get a free energy healing on December 5th, or if you just want to know more about the subject. http://qigongenergyhealing.blogspot.com/ .
It's essentially like my 'healing angel paintings'; it's a transference of energy that allows the person to balance their own energy so they can heal themselves. It IS the way of the future, so why not learn about it now?
