Provincetown Paintings

2.5"x3.5"
I just finished a few paintings of Provincetown that I will drop off in a shop there (Luchima) early next week.

These are all ACEO size (2.5"x3.5") but they will be sold framed.

I look forward to having an 'excuse' to go to Ptown. I haven't been there in several weeks. (It's about 45 minutes away from my house-longer with the summer traffic).
If my girls come with me we can bring a picnic lunch and eat it on the beach. It could be a really nice day.
But I don't know if they are going to want to come with me. You see, we are getting 2 new 'arrivals' today. Brielle's friend Lucy, is adopting 2 kittens and needs someone to foster them for a month until she gets into her new apartment, so guess who volunteered? NO, not me. I just got told about it after the fact. Hmmmmm
Luckily, I don't mind too much. I can enjoy them for a little while- and not be committed to a life time of care. As much as I love animals, I'm at a point in my life where I might like to do some traveling. You know?
Meow.

Photo's of the Cape

So far it's been a hot, hot summer here on Cape Cod. Sometimes we have cool summers or rainy summers, but this tops all summers. The tourists are in heaven- talk about great beach days! (I have no idea who these kids are). I guess even the Great White Sharks swimming in the area aren't keeping people out of the water!
Now that it's late July, the Queen Anne's Lace flowers are all in bloom and they dot the shoreline with touches of white. Sooo pretty! I've been painting them quite a lot this summer.
Here's a little house in West Dennis. It's probably a summer home.
I spotted these 3 Osprey today near Barnstable Harbor. Looks like they brought back a fish for their baby who is as big as the parents!
And here is the windmill in Yarmouth, looking across to West Dennis Beach.

Ahhhh summer on the Cape.

"Big Nick's Ride for the Fallen"

Saturday I went on "Big Nick's Ride for the Fallen", an Inaugural Memorial Motorcycle Ride in honor of Cpl Nicholas G. Xiarhos, USMC and 8 other fallen heroes of Cape Cod. It started at Dennis-Yarmouth High School where he went to school.
(I'm in this photo, somewhere).
There were over 300 bikes (I've heard rumors it was over 700!), which spread out over 4 miles while riding through Dennis, Brewster and Harwich.

As we rode there were people on the side of the road with signs and flags supporting the troops.
We got to ride through all the stop signs, lights and had a police escort.

As we rode under the huge flag put over Setucket road by the Dennis F.D., a tear came to my eye as the seriousness of the whole ride really struck me. There were so many people supporting the Xiarhos family, it was really nice to see. I remember when he died a year ago, the whole town was devestated and everyone's hearts went out to the family. Amazingly they have turned a tragedy into something good and honoring.
Besides the intense heat, and almost keeling over from having to wear jeans on a day like that, it was a very worthwhile cause, and fun too. It's always fun riding with so many bikes.

The girls have been spending a lot of time with their little cousins, Qena and Quince lately. In fact, I think my sister sees them more than I do!
Well, I suppose this little face IS irresistible! And she's so sweet and snugly too. If you put your hand on her face, she'll grab it and hold it there with both of her hands. It's soooo cute.

I have no idea who this is, but the dog was having such fun playing with that Frisbee tonight I had to take a photo.
I was at Mayflower Beach watching the sun set. There were sooooo many people there!

And now you are looking up Kiya's nose -just to make you smile.
Have a happy day!

2 New Angels

I painted a couple of new angel cards (2.5"x3.5"). http://stores.ebay.com/Cape-Cod-Artist (These photo's are actually bigger than the cards themselves!)
I love the colors in these. Every time I paint angels, they seem to come out in the most beautiful color schemes. But- I just do what I'm feeling at the time (*or being directed to do by the angels themselves). So how can I go wrong?!
Well, it's another steaming hot day here on the Cape and I'm off to physical therapy for Sienna. She has some weird thing with her knee and she needs the P.T. before she plays soccer this fall. Actually, they've already started the practices. fun fun. (I say sarcastically). It's not that I don't want my daughter to play soccer but it's the driving back and forth to practices and games that gets to be a lot when you are trying to work.
(I'm feeling a little overworked and stressed as you can tell). I just need a day off. I haven't had one of them since ....hmmmm... I don't remember. whine whine whine. Shhhhhh Breten!! Life is good. We're all healthy and happy, my cats are still alive and well, the sun is out.....BREATHE!
Ok, I feel better.

I took this photo in Chatham. I was thrilled that I actually caught this white egret in flight.

I thought this hot hot weather wasn't supposed to be here until August! Boy is it hot out! It was a great day to be at the beach- in the water. I, unfortunately was not in the water, but at the grocery store, which was almost as good. I was taking care of Beth today (she just got back from summer camp) and she looooves the grocery store. Whenever we go in there, she usually sees several people that she knows and she's all smiles and hugs. Everybody knows Beth where ever we go.

Well, I can't write too much more because my Simby is laying on my left arm and it's pretty hard to type. He's happy and just purring away, but this office is way too hot for him. I'll have to bring him in the cooler rooms. so we can snuggle properly.

Brielle

I just found a song about Brielle! Ok, it's not about MY Brielle, but A Brielle. It's by Sky Sailing and you can hear it on You Tube by following this link:

The song is so nice, and it was such a thrill to hear her name in a song- especially since it's such an unusual name. When we named her, I had never even heard of it before, but I have heard of several Brielle's since she was born, some older some younger. Her name reminds me of a soft breeze. Brielle (MY Brielle) is kind of like that too. She's sweet and breezy, nothing rattles her too much.
That song says: "Good bye Brielle" so everytime I hear it I'm already thinking about her leaving for college and a tear comes to my eye. Ugh. It's coming up too soon. Only one more month of having her home with me.

Anyone out there watching the Bachelorette? Well, if not; one of the 3 finalists is from right here in Dennis! On last night's episode she went to the hometown's of the remaining 4 so she came here with the camera crews and all. They showed them walking with his black lab (maybe this is her?) at Corporation Beach. It was kind of neat to see one of our beaches on TV. Chris Lambton (the guy from Dennis) is a good looking, and seemingly genuinely nice guy from a nice family. I have a feeling he won't end up with her, but I'm sure he'll find someone special -all in perfect time.

This month has been soooooo busy I have to really make time to go for a walk and just breathe. This is one of my favorite places to go after dinner (the Bay) when the tide is low because as you can see, you can walk for miles out on the flats. Also the salt air with the negative ions is so refreshing and enlivening. Ahhhhh. Nice and quite, and peaceful, just the way I like it! This is my favorite time of day- right after the sun sets but before it gets dark. I probably just love it because purple is my favorite color and just look at the colors in the sky! When you're at the beach it feels like you're being enveloped by a blanket of purple and pink.

Family

Last night I took a motorcycle ride to West Dennis Beach only to find my sister there with her kids. My mom was down there too with her group called "Common Ground". They were having their 'meeting' in beach chairs while watching the sunset and eating cheese and crackers (and maybe a little wine in those paper cups?).

One of the men in the group, Paul brought a kite and let Quince fly it for a bit. He was thrilled! It was fun watching him try to catch the tail. Of course, at that point it landed right on top of one the ladies heads. oops!

Awwwww. What a cutie pie!!! (my niece Qena) She has 3 teeth now and is 10 months old. I took her for a walk in her carriage up and down the parking lot trying to get my exercise in. Boy was it hot! She enjoyed every minute of it though.
What a nice summer day!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!
It's a beautiful evening and I just got back from watching fireworks down at the beach. I happily enjoyed them without the stress large crowds and sitting in traffic trying to leave afterwards. These were just the fireworks that people purchased and lit off (illegally) on the beach. WOW! They were almost as good as the town's displays! It was great. Now I'm just up waiting for my girls to get home. Sienna went to Ptown to see them with her aunt so they won't be home until quite late. I can never sleep until I know they are both home, safe and sound.
I spent the day driving to Connecticut (2 states away) to take Beth to summer camp. She couldn't wait to go! All the people going to camp have some sort of mental retardation issue so it's nice that they are among their peers. This is her with her new camp councilor (who might be all of 16!). Can you see all the people in the back ground? Well when we drive in they all clap and cheer and yell the persons name (Beth's) really loudly, to welcome them to camp! There was one car in front of us where the person going to camp was standing up through the sunroof waving like he was the king, and everyone was clapping and cheering, it was really cute to watch. They get such a kick out of it!
Here's Beth getting settled in her cabin. It was REALLY hot inside- no air conditioning, but did she care? Nope! She couldn't wait to get started on the arts and crafts. She'll have a great 2 weeks, and her mom will have a great 2 weeks vacation also!

Angel Painting

Here is an angel painting I did (channeled) for someone who asked me to paint HER angel. This is what I was so excited about the other day. Since I had no idea what it would look like when I begun, I was thrilled to see it come to life as a male (since I've only painted female or neutral energies so far). I was absolutely 'directed' to make sure I got the arms big enough (not like a woman's) and to make a mans chest! Now, I don't know if angels actually have a gender, but it's my belief that they will show up in whatever form is most comfortable for the recipient. It is still the same energy no matter what the form. (She told me later that she always thought her angel was a male)! I was also guided to make sure I put PINK in there and to use lighter colors than I normally use.

The night I finished the painting I went for a long walk on the flats and when I looked up I saw this beautiful heart in the clouds. Now that I look at it, it reminds me of the angel- even the colors! (which really didn't come out as well in this photograph). What do you think? Just a coincidence?
Well, I have to say I enjoyed every second that I worked on that painting. I finished feeling more energized than when I started. The thought in my head was... I just want to paint EVERYONE's angel!!!!
